IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you have installed Java 8 Update 20 or later, this update has has blocked access to unsigned applets, making the oekaki boards and other unsigned Java applets inoperable. If you use Java 8 Update 20 or later and if you want to draw on this oekaki, please do the following:

1. Go to Control Panel, select Java and make sure Java content is enabled in your browser.
2. Go to Security and add the URL link of this site in the address bar to your Exception List.

Animated versions of ShiPainter, ShiPainter Pro and OekakiBBS are known to work correctly under these new restrictions. Normal, Paletted and Animated PaintBBS and ChibiPaint do not work at all at this time. I'm still investigating into this issue and I'll post a update as time warrants.

In the meantime, if you wish to use the oekaki without any of these new restrictions, there are older versions of Java (Java 8 Update 11 and below) that will work with this oekaki board without problems.

 It's working for me since I'm using Java 6.

I'll probably investigate what could be causing PaintBBS to not work on newer versions of Java soon.

It may partly be because it's so hard to get a Java based board to work now. :/

 I agree. As far I know Java 9 will remove plugin support and that could be the end of oekakies built on Java. :(

 Yeah. I'll muck with Internet Explorer; Chrome and Firefox no longer support this stuff.

 Internet Explorer still supports the Java plugin (only the Oracle version).

Older versions of Internet Explorer through version 8 on Windows XP/Server 2003 did support Microsoft Java.

Firefox is the only browser that still supports the Java plugin, but not for too much longer. Chrome already removed Java support.

 I can only get the oekaki to work on IE. As long as that's all I have to use it for, I'm not too angry, just a little disappointed that Java has to be such an apparent "security hole".

 Older versions of Java have historically worked with Internet Explorer and other browsers that are no longer supported by its developers.

It's just the newer versions of the browser and Java that don't work. I'm not angry about that either.
